Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SLVIPS), Proddatur is affiliated to JNTU Anantpur and approved by AICTE. The department of pharmaceutics is one of the key departments of the Institute. SLVIPS is equipped with state of the art facilities to undertake research in drug development and delivery. In the frontier area of Biomaterial research, the focus will be for synthesis and characterization of new biodegradable polymer, their formulations for various drug delivery systems to improve surface biocompatibility of medical devices and their invitro / Invivo evaluation.
To strengthen our research potential, nanotechnology will be utilized to prepare effective carriers to deliver the drugs at diseases targets and effort will be taken to initiate gene delivery program in department. These well-furnished laboratories cater to the practical requirements of the subjects Technology of Drugs & Cosmetics, Biopharmaceutics & Dosage Form Design, pharmacology, Physical Pharmacy, Dispensing Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Engineering (unit operations) and Pharmaceutical biotechnology.
SLVIPS laboratory is well equipped with machinery required for mixing, size reduction, granulation, tablet compression, drying, sterilization, capsule filling, ampoule filling & sealing in manufacturing of pharmaceutical dosage form like tablets, capsules, ointments, liquid orals, parenterals, novel drug delivery system, packaging science etc. This laboratory is also equipped with in process quality control equipments like hardness taster, disintegration and dissolution apparatus etc.
